Overview
Avery Dennison, a renowned global manufacturer specializing in labelling and packaging materials, operates a key facility in Nottingham. The company places high importance on site security, both for the safety of its staff and the protection of valuable assets. However, their existing CCTV system had become outdated, offering limited resolution and lacking integration with newer technologies. Avery Dennison approached Varciti to deliver a modern, reliable, and future-proof surveillance solution.
Project Objectives
The primary goals of this project were to:
- Replace the legacy CCTV cameras and DVR system with a modern IP-based solution.
- Enhance image clarity and storage capabilities to support improved incident analysis.
- Extend live CCTV monitoring to the reception area for improved situational awareness.
- Ensure the entire setup was user-friendly, scalable, and easily maintainable.
Our Solution
After conducting a thorough on-site assessment, Varciti proposed and implemented a robust upgrade using the latest in CCTV technology from Hikvision:
1. System Replacement
We decommissioned the outdated analog DVR system and replaced it with a Hikvision IP-based Digital Video Recorder (DVR), capable of handling high-definition inputs and offering extended storage. This ensured superior image processing, better compression rates, and access to modern remote management tools.
2. Camera Installation
Four new high-resolution IP cameras were strategically installed across the site, covering key zones such as entrances, loading bays, and communal areas. These cameras offer features like motion detection, night vision, and digital zoom, significantly improving monitoring capability both day and night.
3. Remote Viewing Setup
To extend real-time visibility into the reception area, we installed an HDMI-over-IP adaptor system. This allowed the video feed from the DVR to be transmitted seamlessly to a new wall-mounted screen in reception without compromising on image quality. The system was configured to be discreet, secure, and low-maintenance.
4. Future-Ready Configuration
The entire setup was configured with the latest firmware and network safeguards, ensuring the system is protected against vulnerabilities and can be integrated with additional devices or features as Avery Dennison’s needs evolve.
